The San Jose Sharks Will Be the Next NHL Dynasty
The San Jose Sharks have been one of the more surprising teams thus far, and their young talent has taken a huge step forward. Macklin Celebrini has led the way and is one of the best players in the NHL at just 19. In just 51 games, he has 78 points, which is the fourth- most in the league.
Along with Celebrini, Will Smith has been a cornerstone of the Sharks’ astonishing success this year. Even with missing 13 games this season, Smith ranks highly in the following team categories: Tied for 2nd in goals, tied for 4th in assists, 2nd in points, 3rd in +/-, and is tied for 5th in PPG. They are an up-and-coming duo, and the Sharks are set up for success.
The Sharks Are Ready To Compete
With one of the best young duos the league has ever seen, the San Jose Sharks are bound to become the next dynasty in hockey. Celebrini and Smith are under contract for multiple more seasons at a low cost and have the chance to break records this season.
They have the chance to break the record of the most games with 3+ points each by teammate duos who are both younger than 20. Right now, they are three games short of setting the record of seven done by Paul Coffey and Wayne Gretzky. They have 14 games to break the record before Smith turns 21.
The goal for the Sharks is to build around these two superstars and try to compete for a championship while the window is wide open. They’ve already added Kiefer Sherwood, and they are expected to remain aggressive as we get closer to the NHL Trade Deadline. San Jose currently holds the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, behind the Utah Mammoth.
Even if the Sharks don’t make aggressive moves, they are still an extremely exciting team with a ton of young talent that will intrigue the fanbase. Players like Collin Graf, William Eklund, Michael Misa, and Zack Ostapchuk are all young and can take the Sharks to the next level.
No One Has Young Talent Like Them
It is truly remarkable how much talent the San Jose Sharks have at their disposal. No other team has the prospect pool or young players who could contribute at a high level immediately. While San Jose won’t win a Stanley Cup this season, the fanbase finally has a reason to be excited after years of their team being stuck at the bottom of the standings.
The fact that Celebrini is already on pace for a 100-point year in just his second season in the NHL is insane and is not talked about enough. The Sharks likely won’t make another big move as we get closer to the deadline and will save their assets for future years.
The biggest need for San Jose will be adding an elite-level defenseman, and they easily have the assets to bring in a big name. They are in a perfect position to make a blockbuster trade and will wait until the right name that fits the roster becomes available.
The Sharks Are Back
San Jose will go for its third straight win tonight against the Edmonton Oilers after defeating the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Tuesday night. With just four games left to go before the Olympic break, they will have two huge games against better teams in the league. The biggest will be their matchup with the Colorado Avalanche, who have an awesome team led by an outstanding offense.
Colorado will be a huge test for this young Sharks team, and we’ll see how they fare against the favorite to win the Stanley Cup this season. San Jose will be talked about more and more and will be one of the dark horse teams entering the 2027 season with Stanley Cup aspirations.
