Williams Leads Bears To Late Comeback Win Over Giants, 24-20
Caleb Williams’ two fourth-quarter touchdowns led a Bears comeback as Chicago defeated the New York Giants 24-20 on Sunday. The Giants led 20-10 early in the fourth before Williams threw for one score and ran for a second to put the Bears ahead. The Giants had 1:47 to try to answer, but backup quarterback Russell Wilson’s drive stalled short of midfield.
Jaxson Dart Stakes Giants To Two-Score Lead
After Kyle Monangai put the Bears on the board first with an eight-yard touchdown run, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart took over. Dart ran for a three-yard touchdown early in the second quarter to tie the score at seven. He then drove New York downfield just before the half to get Younghoe Koo a 37-yard field goal.
Dart started off the second half with another big run, scoring from 24 yards out this time, to put the Giants up 17-7. After a Bears 22-yard field goal from Cairo Santos narrowed the lead to 17-10, Dart started another New York scoring drive. However, he was forced to leave the game due to a head injury, and Wilson would be the one to take the Giants down inside the Chicago red zone to start the fourth quarter with a Koo chip-shot 19-yard field goal. Dart did not return to the game.
Williams Takes Over Late
Williams led a Bears rally late in the fourth quarter. He hit Rome Odunze for a two-yard touchdown with 3:56 left in the game. The Chicago defense shut down the Giants’ next drive with two big sacks of Wilson by Montez Sweat and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. A terrible 26-yard punt by New York punter Jamie Gillan gave the Bears great field position near midfield.
Williams drove the Bears 53 yards in four plays, capping it with a 17-yard touchdown scramble that put Chicago ahead to stay. The Bears’ defense stifled Wilson again, and the Giants turned the ball over on downs with 43 seconds left in the game. Williams took a knee to close it out.
Williams finished with 220 passing yards and 63 rushing yards to go with his passing and rushing TDs. D’Andre Swift had 80 yards rushing, and Odunze had six catches for 86 yards and a TD. Gardner-Johnson led the defense with two sacks, a forced fumble and nine tackles.
New York Notes

Dart had a big game going before leaving with what is now being reported as a concussion. He completed 19 passes for 242 yards and rushed six times for 66 yards and two touchdowns. Tyrone Tracy Jr. led the Giants’ rushing attack with 71 yards on 14 carries. Darius Slayton led all receivers with 89 yards.
What’s Up Next?
New York falls to 2-8 with the loss. They will host the Green Bay Packers (5-2-1) next Sunday. Chicago improves to 6-3, and they will travel to Minnesota next Sunday for a matchup with the division-rival Vikings (4-5).
