Who Will Be Heroic Miami Dolphins QB1?
The 2025 Miami Dolphins have a unique opportunity to capitalize on some amazing offensive talent. But there is a glaring question that has yet to be answered. Who will man the helm under center and lead this team to a Superbowl title? Currently, the Miami Dolphins have three options after the close of the 2025 draft. As we sift through all the seen and unseen stats, the answer may surprise you regarding who the best candidate is. Let’s dig into who it will be.
Miami Dolphins QB Candidates
Currently listed on the Miami Dolphins team site, there are three options at quarterback. Tua Tagovailoa, Zach Wilson, and Quinn Ewers. Each brings a unique set of skills and talent to the team as well as on and off-the-field abilities that contribute to each one of them potentially being the guy under center. But from these three only one can be the starting quarterback for the 2025 season. Let’s start with Tagovailoa.
Tagovailoa is the most common answer when asked who is the lead candidate for the starting QB role for the Miami Dolphins. But before we pack up shop and close the article, there are a few reasons why Tagovailoa will not be the man under center for the Miami Dolphins in the 2025 season. First, the injuries. It doesn’t take long to look back at the fact that not only was Tagovailoas’s career almost done last year due to injuries, but his life was also on the chopping block due to the nasty injuries.
There is one thing of gutting it out and being tough and coming back from injury, and there is another of taking a step away and making sure one can still enjoy life. Tagovailoa is one bad hit away from serious damage. For this reason, there is a good chance he will not be the Miami Dolphins’ No. 1 quarterback but may be a mentor role for the younger guys. Injuries are no joke and should be taken seriously.
Zach Wilson Heads To Miami Dolphins
From a top prospect on a horrible New York Jets team to backup quarterback on a playoff-bound Denver Broncos. Wilson now finds himself on a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. While there is talent in the 25-year-old BYU alum, it is unfortunate but timing has not been in Wilson’s favor. Most analysts saw the Denver Broncos giving Bo Nix a chance and when he couldn’t handle the bright lights, Wilson would get his shot. Unfortunately for Wilson, Nix kept delivering. That opportunity never came.
Now the 25-year-old looks primed to be the lead man with the Miami Dolphins as Tagovailoa is injury-prone and Ewers is untested. All signs give a green light to Wilson being the man in Miami. Or maybe not. While there is talent here in Wilson, there is a definite limit to his ceiling as a player. This is because he has never gotten the chance to grow as a player and develop his skills in game situations.
While this is a limiting factor, Wilson is the dark horse candidate for the 2025 Miami Dolphins. If Tagovailoa is injured and will be a mentor figure, and Wilson has a limit on his current skill set and may be destined to be a career backup, who is the most likely candidate for the Miami Dolphins for the 2025 NFL season?
Enter Miami Dolphins Round 7 Pick 231
Ewers led Texas to a 13-3 season bringing a bunch of talent to the QB position for the 2025 NFL draft. Due to Shedeur Sanders’ miss fire of ranking, this led to fellow quarterbacks falling as well. Unfortunately for Ewers, he was on the wrong side of that situation. But luckily for Miami, they were able to draft a future Hall of Famer with a round 7 pick. Near “Mr. Irrelevant territory,” Ewers has the perfect storm to show the world how wrong they were to overlook him.
With a chip on his shoulder and more importantly, an opportunity to compete for the QB 1 slot, Ewers has the focus, determination, and motivation to become the starter for the Dolphins for the 2025 season. But what stands his way? The only thing standing in his way is a competition against Wilson. While the nod will lean to the more veteran guy in Wilson, there is an overwhelming confidence that Ewers will outshine and show out and be QB 1 in Miami come the start of the 2025 NFL season. Competing for the top slot will make him that much sharper and better as a young quarterback.
Wrap It Up
Bringing everything just talked about into focus, there is a clear-cut path for each of these talented young men to obtain the spot of QB1 for Miami. However, there are pitfalls for each along the way. As you have seen here at Total Apex we are not only bold in our predictions but have been more right than not, see Shedeur Sanders’ falling article and how we predicted that! See it here first. Ewers will be Quarterback 1 for the Miami Dolphins for the 2025 NFL season, barring injury or blockbuster trade.
