Is a Von Miller Reunion On the Way With the Denver Broncos?
Von Miller is one of the greatest defensive players in Denver Broncos’ franchise history. After he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Miller has repeatedly expressed his desire to return and finish his career with the Broncos.
According to Charlie Campbell, he witnessed Von Miller talking and lobbying Broncos front office members to bring him back to Denver next season at the NFL Combine. Miller has publicly said many times that he would love to return to Denver as a role player behind Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper.
Miller Wants To Return To Denver
A couple of years ago, when the Broncos drafted Bonitto and Cooper, it didn’t make sense to bring Miller because he’d be taking snaps away from them. Now that they both developed into elite-level pass rushers, Miller would be able to mentor them while still getting snaps. He rotated well in the Washington Commanders’ defense this past season, putting up 9 sacks.
If the Broncos could sign Miller for the veteran minimum, it would be a fantastic move. Both Cooper and Bonitto have very similar styles, and it would be awesome if he could continue to help them grow into better players. In an already stacked defense, Miller would put Denver over the edge in their quest to win a Super Bowl after falling just short in 2025.
Will The Broncos Be Interested?
The only way the Broncos will be interested in reuniting with Miller is if he comes back on a veteran minimum deal. In a Super Bowl window, Denver will have to be smart and allocate their resources wisely as it looks to take the next step, continuing to build around Bo Nix. Their defensive line is already stacked, and they can’t afford to pay another edge rusher big-time money.
A reunion would be awesome, but as we all know, the NFL isn’t about emotions; it’s a business. Any decision will be made very late in the offseason, after George Paton can evaluate where the roster is and whether he wants to bring Miller back. They’d had the chance to do it for years and haven’t pounced on it, so time will tell if things change this offseason.
Broncos Need a Big Offseason
After falling to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, the Denver Broncos need to go all in and get better weapons for Nix. The running back room needs an overhaul, as rookie Running Back RJ Harvey proved multiple times last year that he’s not good enough to handle a starting workload when JK Dobbins went down. The best option on the market is Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker.
Outside of free agency, the NFL Draft will also be huge for Denver. Last year, their early round picks failed to make an impact, and the Broncos passed on offensive players who could’ve contributed immediately, like Omarion Hampton and TreVeyon Henderson. This year’s class is extremely deep on wide receivers, and Denver needs to be one of the teams that lands one early on.
With Nix on a rookie contract, Paton and the rest of the front office need to strike while the iron is hot. The offensive line is one of the best in all of football, and they need to land a premier offensive talent this offseason, whether it comes in free agency or via trade. If they keep their foot on the gas, they should be among the favorites to win the AFC next season.
