Eagles WR DeVonta Smith’s Jaw-Dropping Sirianni and Saban Share Coaching Intensity Comments
Eagles wide receiver Devonta Smith was on the 94WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamera and Jon Ritchie, and DeCamera asked Smith the question of the day: Who’s more intense as a coach, Nick Saban or Nick Sirianni? His answer was likely to shock many people outside of Eagles fans, but now, with the 2024 results in mind, Eagles fans know the answer is probably correct. Anyways, here’s the answer in full detail, along with some quick analysis of the entire “Skinny Batman” interview on WIP on Thursday.
Devonta Smith’s Shocking Answer About Sirianni and Saban
At first, right after DeCamera asked the question, the call was accidentally dropped or lost connection, but the team was able to get Smith back on the phone to answer the question. And when he does, eyebrows were raised in the studio and city-wide. Here was his response to the question, “Um, that’s tough. I mean, honestly, they’re really kind of the same guy,” Smith said. He would also elaborate with the following statements. “They’re real serious, but they try to throw their little jokes in every now and then. But very intense coaches… It’s kind of the same thing that Coach Saban tried to instill in us.”
That answer was so eye-opening, as it gives a little bit of insight into what the coaching style of Sirianni is a bit and how it draws a lot of parallels to probably the greatest head coach in college football history. And to be honest, he has had a similar track record to Saban wins-wise in the NFL, just look at the numbers, as they say NUMBERS NEVER LIE, but PEOPLE DO! And people have definitely been lying about Siranni as a coach in their evaluations, as there are some still doubting him a bit.
One Other Highlight From the Interview

“Skinny Batman” also praised the two new wide receivers in the room in Darius Cooper and his former Alabama teammate John Metchie III. “Those guys came in with the right mindset, those guys came into work every day, they’re ready to learn, everyone brings different qualities to the room, I think it is a good thing to have a room so diverse, everybody can learn something different from somebody else,” Smith said in response to Jon Ritchie’s question.
This was an encouraging sign to see one of the leaders of the receiver room in the “Slim Reaper” talk so highly about the room as a whole, and not just about AJ Brown and himself as players, as fans already know what those two phenoms bring to the table.
Final Thoughts
The full eight-minute interview is a great watch for Eagles fans to get some insight on the Eagles receiver, and it was well done by DeCamera and Ritchie, and the Morning Show at 94WIP. Especially the last question of the interview is going to bring a whole lot of eyeballs and attention to the dynamics of the two head coaches that the “Slim Reaper” has played for in his illustrious career up to this point.
