San Francisco 49ers Named Most Enjoyable Team to Support
Pickswise, a sports picks and predictions website, recently revealed that the San Francisco 49ers are the most enjoyable NFL team to support. Here’s why.
San Francisco 49ers Named Most Enjoyable Team to Support
The most depressing day of the year is just around the corner, and Pickwise’s new study revealed the most depressing and enjoyable NFL teams to follow. Pickwise factored in historic win/loss records, Super Bowl success, Google search volume for tickets, etc.
The San Francisco 49ers took the No. 1 spot, thanks to five Super Bowl wins, a 61% playoff winning percentage, and 246,000 Google searches per month for tickets in California.
The Los Angeles Rams ranked No. 13, thanks to two Super Bowl wins, but a total index score of 4.43 out of 10. The Los Angeles Chargers sat at No. 22 after failing to reach a Super Bowl for 31 years and having the NFL’s worst playoff win rate, at just 38%.
Pickswise’s study confirmed that the 49ers are the most fun NFL team to follow ahead of Blue Monday, an unofficial holiday that recognizes the funk most people feel around the middle of January, on Jan. 19.
49ers Lead the Pack
After defeating the defending Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles 23-19 at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, Pickswise crowned the 49ers the title of the most fun NFL team to support. The 49ers achieved a total index score of 7.56 out of 10.
One of the biggest reasons behind San Francisco’s top ranking is sustained success on North American sports’ biggest stage. San Francisco appeared in eight Super Bowls, winning five and losing three, giving the team one of the strongest championship records in NFL history.
San Francisco’s success isn’t confined to the past. Most recently, San Francisco reached the Super Bowl in 2023. However, San Francisco has now lost their last three Super Bowl appearances, winning their last Lombardi Trophy in 1995.
On the field, San Francisco is among the NFL’s most consistent performers. San Francisco’s all-time 55% regular season win rate is backed up by a 61% playoff winning percentage, which is the second-best in the NFL, only behind the New England Patriots’ 63%.
San Francisco finished the 2025 NFL regular season with a 12-5 record and third place in the NFC West, but came from behind twice in the fourth quarter to upset the Philadelphia Eagles. San Francisco’s priorities have now shifted to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday.
The ticket demand for the 49ers’ games in California is sky-high, with an average of 246,000 searches per month for 49ers tickets, which is the fifth-highest in the NFL and 103,125 above the NFL average of 142,875.
The 49er Faithful’s frustration has also been limited, with only 24 Reddit posts including “depression” or “heartbreak” over the past year, suggesting the 49er Faithful have had more to celebrate than to complain about.
49ers Are in Good Company
Aside from San Francisco, the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, and Philadelphia Eagles complete Pickwise’s list of the 10 most fun NFL teams.
New England trailed at No. 2 with 11 Super Bowl appearances, winning six and losing five, and a total index score of 7.46 out of 10. Green Bay ranked at No. 3 with five Super Bowl appearances, winning four and losing one, and a total index score of 7.40. Kansas City finished at No. 4 with seven Super Bowl appearances, winning four and losing three, and a total index score of 7.33. Baltimore rounded out the top five with two Super Bowl appearances, winning two, and a total index score of 7.23.
