Baltimore Ravens select Explosive Edge Mike Green with Pick 59
The Baltimore Ravens potentially get a steal at pick 59, getting Marshall edge rusher Mike Green in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was a top edge rush prospect that could’ve been taken all the way up in the top 15 in the first round, as he does have an off-field red flag that could’ve made teams wary. But on the field, Green dominated at Marshall and at the Senior Bowl, as this is a good pick for value that could be worth the risk. The Ravens fill a major need to rush the passer on defense.
Baltimore Ravens selects Mike Green with Pick 59
Baltimore gets the nation’s sack leader from 2024 with 17.5 sacks in Green. The Ravens are getting great value, and hopefully, the off-the-field stuff is put behind him. It is interesting that they are currently dealing with Justin Tucker and his allegations, as he should be moved off the team sometime this offseason. This fits one of their bigger needs, as they get an edge rusher opposite Odafe Oweh that can develop behind veteran Kyle Van Noy.
With two allegations of sexual assault, Green fell off some teams’ boards out of the first round, but no charges were filed, and he has since denied these allegations. He is still a first-round talent on the field, and it could pay dividends for the Ravens, who have had a good blend of safe players but also gambled during the NFL Draft in past years.
Final Thoughts
For the Thundering Herd, the junior dominated even when they played better competition, as he profiles as a finesse but aggressive pass rusher who can get after the quarterback. Baltimore made a safer pick with a superstar safety, Malaki Starks from Georgia, in the first round, and went defense again in the second with Green. The former Virginia transfer was a top edge in this draft, and he lands with the Ravens at pick 59.
