Baltimore Ravens-Kyle Hamilton Agree To Immense $100 Million Extension
The Ravens have extended their young superstar Safety, Kyle Hamilton. Baltimore selected Hamilton with the 14th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he has exceeded expectations. At that time, the Ravens had just signed Marcus Williams, so the selection of Hamilton seemed puzzling. Fast forward to today, and Hamilton is one of the best safeties in the NFL and a leader on the Ravens’ defense.
It Is a Historic Deal For Hamilton
Hamilton’s extension is a four-year, $100.4 million extension, with $82 million guaranteed. This is the largest deal for a safety in NFL history. This deal also makes Hamilton the highest-paid safety in the NFL, surpassing Lions Kerby Joseph, who makes $21.5 million annually. In this move, Hamilton will receive $82 million guaranteed, which surpasses the previous record of $45 million.
Hamilton was the highest graded safety by PFF since 2022, and has been elite for Baltimore ever since they drafted him. The best part about his game is his ability to be used in every aspect of the game. He’s fantastic in defending the passing game, as well as stopping opposing running backs.
He’s Worth Every Penny
Hamilton is as elite as you could get from the safety position. He is arguably the best defensive back in the entire league, along with Patrick Surtain II. He makes his presence known on every single play, and he was high on Eric DeCosta’s priorities:
“That’s a responsibility that we don’t take lightly. We’ve had a few players over the years become the highest paid at their position, and I think that when you are the highest paid, that’s an important distinction. Kyle has proven that he’s going to carry that very well. We expect him to continue to be an impact play on our defense for years to come.”
Even though the film stands out on its own, the stats are even more impressive. He was one of two players to align 50+ snaps at edge rusher, inside LB, slot CB, and safety in 2024, showing how versatile he really is. He’s also been elite ever since being drafted, being one of three players with 200+ tackles, 15+ TFL & 20+ passes defensed since 2022.
Final Thoughts
How can you say anything other than this was a fantastic deal for the Ravens? DeCosta did a great job getting ahead of the game and wasn’t afraid to pay a high price. Extending him creates an extremely exciting safety duo between him and 2025 first-round pick Malaki Starks. He is an absolute game changer, and being in a division with Joe Burrow, J’aMarr Chase, and Tee Higgins, the star safety helps tremendously.
