Packers Turn to Familiar Face, Name Luke Getsy Quarterbacks Coach
The Green Bay Packers have made a decisive move to solidify their offensive coaching staff, promoting Luke Getsy to the role of quarterbacks coach. The decision, first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, signals a return to familiarity for the organization as they look to build upon the foundation of their current offense.
Getsy, 41, is no stranger to the halls of Lambeau Field. His appointment marks a significant reunion with a franchise where he previously built a strong reputation working alongside future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. He steps into the role recently vacated by Sean Mannion, who departed Green Bay to accept the offensive coordinator position with the Philadelphia Eagles.
A Proven Track Record in Green Bay
For Getsy, this promotion is a homecoming of sorts. He previously served as the Packers’ quarterbacks coach under head coach Matt LaFleur from 2019 to 2021. During that highly successful tenure, Getsy was instrumental in the offensive room, working closely with Rodgers during back-to-back MVP campaigns. His ability to foster high-level quarterback play was a key component of Green Bay’s offensive dominance during that stretch.
His success in Green Bay naturally drew attention from across the league. Following the 2021 season, Getsy was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, where he spent two seasons calling plays. He subsequently moved to the Las Vegas Raiders as their offensive coordinator for part of the 2024 season.
Stability for Jordan Love
The move to elevate Getsy is particularly significant for current Packers quarterback Jordan Love. Getsy was on staff during the early developmental years of Love’s career, providing a layer of continuity that is often crucial for quarterback success.
After a brief stint away, Getsy returned to Green Bay in 2024 as a defensive consultant before transitioning back to the offensive side of the ball in 2025 as a senior offensive assistant. Now, he reclaims the positional coaching role where he first made his mark in Wisconsin.
The coaching shuffle in Green Bay comes after a period of transition. The team saw several staff members depart recently, including former defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who left to become the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. In filling the void left by Mannion, LaFleur has opted for an internal candidate who understands the culture, the system, and the players.
By tapping into their own pipeline, the Packers are banking on Getsy’s established rapport with the roster and his intimate knowledge of LaFleur’s scheme to keep the quarterback room operating at a high level in 2026.
