Atlanta Falcons Assistant Coach LaTroy Lewis Fired Following Troubling Allegations

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jace Amaro (89) runs against Houston Texans linebacker LaTroy Lewis (54)

The Atlanta Falcons didn’t waste any time. Less than 24 hours after sexual assault allegations surfaced against newly hired Assistant Defensive Line Coach LaTroy Lewis, the organization showed him the door. The Falcons announced his dismissal on Friday, just 17 days after they had brought him on board as part of new Head Coach Kevin Stefanski’s staff.

Who Is LaTroy Lewis?

Lewis, 32, was a Tennessee alum who briefly lived the NFL dream, playing two games for the Houston Texans during the 2017 season. He recorded 3 tackles, including 1 sack. Not a long run, but enough to say he made it.

From there, he transitioned into coaching. He joined Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan as a defensive graduate assistant in 2022, earned a promotion to defensive analyst in 2024, and then spent the 2025 season as Toledo’s defensive line coach. His Rockets were the MAC’s toughest run defenders that year and led the conference in sacks.

What Are the Allegations Against Lewis?

According to a report first published by Justin Spiro of Darko State News, a woman — identified in the report as “Jane” — claims she met Lewis on a dating app in July 2024, while he was still on Michigan’s coaching staff. Over time, according to her attorney Karen Truszkowski, Lewis’s behavior “became increasingly aggressive” through text messages and phone calls.

The two met in person for the first time in Dec. 2024 at Weber’s Hotel in Ann Arbor. The meeting, Jane was told, was simply to return some of her belongings. It wasn’t. According to Truszkowski, Lewis raped and battered her client at the hotel.

Then, in Jan. 2025, he allegedly showed up at Jane’s apartment in Milford, Michigan. Neighbors heard the commotion and called 911. When officers arrived, both Lewis and Jane told police it had only been a verbal argument. No charges were filed. But Truszkowski says that was not the full picture. He had physically abused her client during that visit, and Jane was too afraid to tell the police the truth at the time.

Jane filed an incident report with the Ann Arbor Police Department and applied for a personal protection order against Lewis earlier in Feb. 2026. The AAPD confirmed the investigation is “active and ongoing.”

The Falcons Are Having a Rough February

It has been a rough stretch for Atlanta’s front office. Less than three weeks before the Lewis situation exploded, Falcons Linebacker James Pearce Jr. was arrested in Florida on five felony charges. Prosecutors allege that on Feb. 7, Pearce crashed his vehicle into a car driven by his ex-girlfriend, WNBA player Rickea Jackson, and then struck a police officer with his vehicle while fleeing the scene.

Two major off-field incidents in less than a month. Stefanski inherited a team with big questions on the field. Now he’s navigating serious ones off it, too.

The Falcons’ official statement on Lewis’s dismissal was as blunt as it gets — all 14 words of it: “The Atlanta Falcons have dismissed assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis from his role.” His bio was scrubbed from the team website shortly after.
