Jared Goff Throws ‘Perfect Game’

The Detroit Lions and Quarterback Jared Goff hosted the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football to end week 4 action. The Lions were victorious over the undefeated Seahawks 42-29, for the first time in five tries. This was not the only headline from this game. Quarterback, Jared Goff has been the talk of the NFL world today as he threw a “Perfect Game” on Monday Night.

Jared Goff was considered an afterthought in the Matthew Stafford trade a few years ago. Goff was notably not wanted in Los Angeles under Head Coach Sean McVay. Since coming to Detroit, Jared Goff has won over the hearts of all Detroit Lions fans. Monday Night, Goff “pitched a perfect game” against a pesky opponent in the Seattle Seahawks. Goff may have been inspired by the gritty Detroit Tigers, who held the best record in baseball since late August. Goff did his best Tarik Skubal impression, dominating the game with his arm.

Jared Goff set a record for the most completions in a single game without an incompletion. Goff went 18-of-18 against a beat-up Seahawks defense. He threw for 292 yards with two touchdowns to his two favorite targets, Amon-Ra St.Brown and Jameson Williams. Goff even showed off his dynamic receiving skills with a seven-yard touchdown reception, catching a pass from St. Brown. Goff looked comfortable in the pocket and had plenty of time to make decisions.

In just a couple of years, Jared Goff and the front office went from a three-win team to a Super Bowl contender. He is a former No. 1 pick for a reason. He took the Rams to the Super Bowl early in his career and was a half away from leading the Lions to their first-ever Super Bowl. 

Jared Goff has a career record of 69-51-1 as a starter in the NFL. He may not have the strongest arm, might not be the most mobile, and might not throw it sidearm, but the man knows how to win. Goff has the Lions sitting pretty at 3-1 going into the bye week. With a week off, the Lions can continue to fine-tune their offense for the struggling Cowboys on October 13.
