Has The Jalen Hurts’ 2026 Discourse Gotten To a Ridiculous Level Where It’s Nauseating?
The NFL world right at this moment in time has a lot to say about Jalen Hurts, where Eagles fans like myself are going to defend him to the death, and other fans like Joel Moran of the Pick a Side Podcast are going to discredit his playoff success and point out his flaws. The question is, why has this stuff come to light?
It has come to light because of the recent reports started by ESPN a few days ago that I had previously covered on this site, but the discourse has become even more nauseating and annoying which brings up the Pick a Side and Joel Moran clips that I want to dissect and bring to people that Hurts is being scapegoated in this situation, and We need to have a better discourse about the Eagles quarterback because quite frankly I’m sick of IT.
The First Pick A Side Clip in Question on Hurts
The first clip that I will embed down below here brings up Hurts ‘ playoff games and tries to downplay the quarterback’s clutch abilities that he has shown in each of his Super Bowl runs, including the 2024 Super Bowl Championship run, probably in response to the ESPN Article that I addressed a few days ago. Highlighting the subpar yardage games like the Rams Divisional Round Game, along with a couple of others. Here’s that clip…
The first direct argument against this clip is the following: other than his first career playoff game, Hurts hasn’t thrown more INTs than touchdowns and has thrown for 1,981 yards, 11 TDs, and 3 INTs, and rushed for 395 yards and 10 TDs, and the fumble in Super Bowl 57. Here’s a tweet with those stats to respond to the Pick a Side clip.
For myself, Hurts is one of the best quarterbacks in the playoffs these last five seasons. Other than the couple of lackluster games he has had, he has been generally a playoff riser, not a playoff choker. I think the Eagles QB will be a BALLER in this new Sean Mannion scheme, so that the questions will be answered very quickly in 2026.
Joel’s Own Clip
The Second Joel Moran clip was sent on his own X account, separate from the Pick A Side Podcast, which is another example of the attack on Hurts that goes beyond just normal analysis to me. Yes, I would agree that based on 2025, the Eagles quarterback had to be better than what he was for most of 2025, especially the back half of that season after the bye week. Here’s Joel’s clip…
This clip has some interesting stuff, but at the same time, it doesn’t have the full complete context in certain things, which is Kevin Patullo’s ability to actually run the scheme that is friendly to the quarterback, as well as Nick Sirianni being an offensive coach that doesn’t have the answers either.
It would be one great half of football, and then it would fall off in the next half. That’s a lack of coaching, not the talent. The COACHING HAD TO BE A LOT BETTER than it was last season, but I can concede to some of the points that the quarterback had to be better as well. Here’s another thing to discredit Joel: he has flip-flopped on teams so many times in the last couple of seasons that his analysis can’t be trusted 100 percent of the time, either because of the motives he has had at times in my eyes.
People Whose Opinion I Trust OVER Joel Moran
Here’s a short list of people whose opinions that back Jalen Hurts I would trust regarding Jalen Hurts over anyone who has slammed him
- Tom Brady
- Peyton Manning
- Nick Foles
- Ron Jaworski
You know what those guys have in common? They have played the position of quarterback at an elite level at some point of some kind and know what it takes to be great at the quarterback position right now. This is just a small example of former NFL players that I would trust about Jalen Hurts, but another guy that I would trust is technically a 1 year wonder in the league, but he has been a consistent analyst with his content. Robert Griffin III
Here’s evidence on why RGIII has earned my trust regarding the Jalen Hurts Discourse over the last couple of days.
He said everything that needed to be said about the disrespect in that single clip that I could say tenfold. But I would also like to add that Hurts is one of the best quarterbacks in the league because he doesn’t let the outside noise bother him, and he always steps up to the level that he needs to step up to when he has been doubted.
