Dre Greenlaw Is Ready To Take Down Texans After Missing Game Against Cowboys
The Denver Broncos and Houston Texans will square off in an AFC matchup on Sunday. The Broncos will look to get their first win in Houston in six years, as they try to stay on top in the AFC West.
Greenlaw Coming Off Suspension
Denver Broncos Linebacker Dre Greenlaw missed the first six weeks of the season due to a quad injury and returned in Week 7 against the New York Giants. Denver pulled off an unbelievable comeback, scoring 33 points in the fourth quarter.
One of the storylines that emerged from this comeback was the questionable calls made by the officiating crew. One of them included defensive pass interference on Riley Moss late in the game, allowing the Giants to get the ball at the two-yard line. Many players were making their frustrations known, along with Head Coach Sean Payton.
On the game-winning field goal by Will Lutz, things got worse between the players and Brad Allen. The players stormed the endzone after the game had concluded, with Brad Allen in the middle of the crowd. Trying to work his way out, Allen shoved LB Justin Strnad, causing Greenlaw to go ballistic.
Greenlaw was seen yelling at Allen as he stood up for his teammate. The NFL would then suspend Greenlaw for a game without pay. Working hard for multiple weeks to return from injury, he’d be sidelined in their game against the Dallas Cowboys.
After speaking with the media this week, Greenlaw sounds ready to go and hungry for their game against the Houston Texans this week. The Broncos will be looking for their first win in Houston since December 8th, 2019.
Greenlaw’s Ready For Houston
After missing the Broncos’ blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the star linebacker is back and eager to get back at it. When asked about his return, Greenlaw responded to how eager he is to keep the wins coming.
“Just whip the Texans’ butt. That’s all I can think of. I’ve been watching them all week.”
He is one of the most competitive players in the entire NFL, and will be taking all of his frustration over the past week out on the Texans’ offense. Against the Giants, he played just 20 snaps and had 6 tackles.
He showed how effective he will be in this defense when on the field. The suspension was tough for Greenlaw; it actually might’ve helped him more than he thought. It gave him an extra week to recover after his first game back in months, and now he has extra rest heading into a game where he’ll definitely have a higher snap count.
