Philadelphia Eagles Hire Bills’ Elite Nickel Coach Pellegrino as Cornerbacks’ Coach
The Philadelphia Eagles needed to find another position as they elevated Joe Kasper to replace Christian Parker, as Parker took over the defensive coordinator position for the Dallas Cowboys. Now they finally have their answer for that replacement. Former Buffalo Bills nickel coach Mike Pellegrino.
Pellegrino has worked with some of the greatest corners in the game over his career, including Stephon Gillmore, Christian Gonzalez, and Taron Johnson, just to name a few star corners he’s worked with. Now he’ll work with two All-Pros in Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. This is going to be an interesting hire for Vic Fangio’s defense.
How The Eagles Came to Pellegrino
Pellegrino had been with the Patriots for 10 seasons (six of them as their cornerbacks coach) before joining the Bills coaching staff last season. Pellegrino coached prime Gillmore, shaped Gonzalez’s game, and had Johnson still playing at an elite level this past season. This is a great home run hire, but there is the question of what the status of the current guy on staff at that role is, in Roy Anderson. It will be interesting to see what Anderson’s role will be with the team if there is one. This is an interesting addition to Vic Fangio and Joe Kasper’s staff.
Social Media Reaction
This move has gotten some intrigue and positive momentum from Eagles Twitter over the last couple of hours since the move was announced by CBS’s Matt Zenitz. With a lot of positive comments and reactions, especially with this being the Eagles’ fifth offseason coaching staff hire outside of the organization, already heading into the 2026 season.
What this Means for Philadelphia Moving Forward
This might be a small hire in the grand scheme of things to some people, but this positional coaching hire might be able to help a guy like Keele Ringo, maybe find that stride at the position, or might be able to maintain the level from Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, or even develop a draft prospect they might select like D’Angelo Ponds, or Jerrod McCoy. But this might be a great sign for Philly moving forward to maintain some stability after the Christian Parker move to Dallas.
