Dolphins Hire Former Titans GM Jon Robinson as Senior Personnel Executive
The Miami Dolphins are adding significant front office experience, hiring former Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson as their new Senior Personnel Executive, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Robinson Joins Dolphins Front Office
Robinson will serve as a key adviser to Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan as Miami works to strengthen its personnel department. The hire brings a veteran voice to a front office that has undergone changes following the team’s disappointing 2025 season.
The 50-year-old Robinson was one of several candidates interviewed for general manager positions during last year’s hiring cycle but ultimately did not land a role. His addition to Miami’s front office marks a return to the NFL after spending time away from the league following his departure from Tennessee.
A Proven Track Record in Tennessee
Robinson spent seven seasons as the Titans’ general manager from 2016 to 2022, compiling a 66-43 record and leading the team to four playoff appearances. During his tenure, he helped build a competitive roster that consistently contended in the AFC South.
His run in Tennessee ended somewhat unexpectedly when the Titans relieved him of his duties near the end of the 2022 season, despite the team’s overall success under his leadership. The decision surprised many around the league given the Titans’ track record during Robinson’s time at the helm.
Building His NFL Career
Before taking the reins in Tennessee, Robinson spent years climbing the ranks in NFL front offices. He began his career with the New England Patriots in 2002 as an area scout, eventually working his way up to director of college scouting. After more than a decade in New England, Robinson moved to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013, where he served as director of player personnel for three years.
That experience in both scouting and personnel management helped prepare Robinson for his eventual promotion to general manager with the Titans in 2016.
What Robinson Brings to Miami
Robinson’s hire signals Miami’s commitment to bolstering its personnel evaluation and decision-making processes. His experience identifying and developing talent, particularly through the draft, could prove valuable as the Dolphins look to build around their core players and address roster needs.
The move also provides Sullivan with a seasoned executive who has navigated the challenges of leading an NFL front office. Robinson’s perspective on player evaluation, contract negotiations, and roster construction should complement Miami’s existing personnel staff.
Looking Ahead
As the Dolphins prepare for the offseason, Robinson’s arrival adds depth and experience to their front office structure. His track record of building competitive rosters in Tennessee suggests he can contribute meaningfully to Miami’s personnel decisions moving forward.
The hire represents another step in the Dolphins’ efforts to position themselves for sustained success in a competitive AFC East division.
