The Main Prospect The Washington Commanders Must Select In 2026 NFL Draft (April Fools Edition)
It’s a different time in the NFL in the year 2026. We are just around the corner from the 2026 NFL Draft, and teams need to be prepared. Especially teams that disappointed after just appearing in an NFC Championship team and the next year missed the playoffs.
The one thing that makes no sense is some of these mock drafts. So many players are ranked too high draft-wise or not even mentioned. But don’t worry, the teams are well prepared and have the proper draft list. Well, there is only one thing to do as the Washington Football Team is now on the clock.
The Biggest Team Need For The Commanders
Gosh, if there was a big team need for the Commanders, the obvious answer is interior offensive line. Jayden Daniels did not have good offensive line protection at all, especially in the interior offensive line. Jacory “Bill” Croskey Merritt had nothing to work with in that backfield, and if the Commanders are smart offensive line is the way to go.
Not tackle because Laremy Tunsil is still here, and they used a first last year on Josh Conerly Jr. The main aim is to draft a guard, and there are some interesting prospects in this draft class. There is one that stands out from the rest.
With The 7th Pick In The 2026 NFL Draft, The Commanders Select – SG VJ Edgecombe (Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Club)
This one makes so much sense because VJ Edgecombe has so much potential as a guard. His film as a Philadelphia 76er is phenomenal, and he is an athletic freak. For a man who is 6′ 4” and 180 lbs its crazy to see how much power and the speed he places with. He has phenomenal hands and plays with a nasty mentality when making blocks like on Jalen Green.
That’s the way NFL players need to block, and the best part is, Edgecombe has a very close relationship with the owner. Remember, Josh Harris is a known sports owner as he owns both the NHL’s New Jersey Devils and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers. Edgecombe and Harris are very close in their relationship with their 76ers ties. He will fit well on the football team and pull double duty playing NFL & NBA games as a modern-day Travis Hunter
Something cool here is that Edgecombe’s jersey number will be 76. He will share with Sam Cosmi, and in exchange, Cosmi gets free 76ers tickets and will get the ability to counsel the team as the “head coach” for the 76ers. After all, coaching does not matter in the NBA, and Cosmi has the potential to counsel the locker room through the season. Yes, Edgecombe wears 77 normally, but Harris wants 76ers branding on Commanders jerseys with him.
When The NBA Chose To Expand They Didn’t Mean Teams
The NBA has been very vocal about expanding its league. They were not talking about going to 32 teams, with Seattle and Las Vegas getting a team. They meant NBA players going to different leagues. Heck, players from the G League are trying to get back into College basketball, and other former NBA alumni go international. It’s time to have the expansion go from NBA to NFL. The Commanders’ drafting Edgecombe shows that the NBA is serious.
The Commanders Must Have Edgecombe To Command the Retool
The one thing the Commanders need is to have a leader on this offensive line, and V.J. Edgecombe, at 20 years old, can be that leader on the offensive line. Yes, the Football IQ needs to improve, but he can succeed in any spot he is in. Edgecombe will provide the much-needed edge to protect Jayden Daniels, and that makes this the most realistic choice.
