Cincinnati Bengals Spoil Baltimore Ravens Thanksgiving Day With 32-14 Thumping In Joe Burrow’s Return
In a season that has all been lost at this point, the Cincinnati Bengals decided to play a little bit of spoiler and put a fork in the Baltimore Ravens’ playoff hopes on Thanksgiving night.
Joe Burrow Leads the Way In Return from Toe Injury
While it wasn’t the most efficient game for superstar Quarterback Joe Burrow in his much-anticipated return, the Bengals were more than thankful to have their franchise player back leading the offense tonight. The former Heisman winner finished the game with 261 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals’ win.
Fellow teammate and Burrow’s longtime favorite receiving target, Ja’Marr Chase, also had himself quite the game as well. The star receiver finished with seven catches for 110 yards in his first game back after serving the one-game suspension he sustained in the Bengals’ week 11 loss versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens Offense Faulters Again
It was the same story for both the Lamar Jackson-led Ravens offense, which has seemed unable to find their footing since Jackson’s return from injury. The two-time MVP finished with 246 yards and an interception as Jackson struggled mightily against a subpar Bengals defense.
The run game was also ground to a halt as Ravens star Running Back Derrick Henry was held to just 60 yards rushing, with 28 of those coming on a long touchdown run early in the first quarter. Despite passing Jim Brown for 11th on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards leaderboard, it was yet another quiet night for the five-time Pro Bowler.
Ravens Playoff Hopes On Life Support Following Loss
After the Kansas City Chiefs lost against the Dallas Cowboys last night, the door for the Ravens to potentially snag a Wild Card spot officially opened up. Following this head-scratching loss to the Bengals tonight, that may have shut the door for good this season. If the Ravens miss the playoffs for the third time in five years, long-time Ravens head coach John Harbaugh’s job could very well be in jeopardy.
