Baltimore Ravens select LSU G/T Emery Jones Jr. at Pick 91
The Baltimore Ravens select Emery Jones Jr. from LSU, as they get their tackle/ guard for their offensive line in the third round with pick 91. After taking Georgia’s Malaki Starks at safety in round one and Marshall’s edge rusher Mike Green in round two, they bolster their offensive line with a versatile tackle/ guard Emery Jones Jr. from LSU. He played at right tackle on the opposite side of Will Campbell, who was taken fourth overall by the New England Patriots.

The Ravens land the 21-year-old to be a backup or potential competition at the guard position. The former right tackle could also be an emergency backup at tackle. Baltimore drafted a star at right tackle last year with former second-rounder Roger Rosengarten, and even though they re-signed Ronnie Stanley at left tackle, he has had injury issues in the past. They get some insurance for the veteran lineman.
The junior Tiger at 6’5″ and 315 lbs has 36 starts on the right side for LSU in his three-year collegiate career. He was a Joe Moore Award finalist in 2023 for being one of the top offensive linemen in the country. While he doesn’t have the best reps on tape with a down season in 2024 compared to 2023, Jones has good enough size and length with room to grow and develop his game.
Final Thoughts
At guard, he has good physicality and strength, but if he sticks at tackle, he lacks some range to block faster pass rushers. The best chance Jones has to start is to compete with Ben Cleveland and Andrew Vorhees at left guard or compete vs. Daniel Faalele at right guard. It wasn’t a bad selection, but there could’ve been opportunities for a more proven guard starter either via trade up or on the board.
However, with the overall draft haul, Starks and Green, Ravens fans can’t complain too much about this outcome. Now, for day three, I expect a skill-position, cornerback, middle linebacker, defensive line, and potentially another offensive lineman in the mix for rounds four through seven.
