Atlanta Falcons Fire Coach After 2 Seasons
The Atlanta Falcons have been on the verge of the postseason, but have not been able to make the playoffs recently. Even with their young talent, they are still having their season end earlier than they would like. Ahead of Black Monday, the team made a decision to make some changes, including firing their coach. Let’s take a closer look at what is happening for the Falcons.
Atlanta Falcons Fire Raheem Morris

After two seasons, the Atlanta Falcons have decided to fire head coach Raheem Morris. This comes just hours after players have made it known they wanted him to return. Morris also made it known following the team’s 19-17 victory in Week 18, as he said:
“My expectation is always to be back. And then I’m going to coach this football team as long as [owner Arthur Blank] allows.”
The Atlanta Falcons have not made the playoffs in the last eight years and ended the season in a three-way tie with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers with an 8-9 record, following a four-game winning streak to end the season. Morris finishes 16-18 in his two-year stint with Atlanta.
Morris is going to be in an interesting spot as there could be up to 10 coaching vacancies this season. With that type of turnover, he could find himself in coaching interviews immediately, if he wants to continue coaching heading into the 2026 season.
The Falcons have also fired general manager Terry Fontenot, meaning the organization could look a lot different. It will be intriguing to see what the team decides to do with the team moving forward as they reach the end of the rookie contracts for their offensive stars.
