On May 2, the Mets allowed six stolen bases, but still got the win against the Cubs. The Mets are not good at holding runners this season, allowing 39 of 40 stolen bases. This Mets team had been getting away with it, but the team must solve this issue.
New York’s inconsistency this season besides the shaky hitting, is also due to letting the team steal bases on them. The Mets losing in crucial games, early this season could go back to letting runners take bases. This allows other teams to get easy runs with extra-base hits and or sacrifice runs. These mistakes could cost the Mets a season if they are not fixed.

For the Mets right now, they need their young catcher to keep improving. Even with the inconsistency and frustration, Alvarez could calm this issue down this season with development.
