Following a 24-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday morning in London, the New York Jets fired Head Coach Robert Saleh earlier today after four seasons on the job. He finished with a 20-36 record at the helm of the New York Jets. Saleh had one year left on his contract with the team. Saleh had one of the worst winning percentages in league history, .357, he never had stability at the quarterback position. Saleh hoped Aaron Rodgers would provide him such stability, but that was not the case.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Saleh came to work earlier today and was informed by New York Jets Owner Woody Johnson he was relieved of his duties. The team has gotten off to a disappointing 2-3 start this season. New York has named Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich the New York Jets Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2024 season. Will the Jets be able to salvage their season with 12 regular season games left?

The first game of the Ulbrich era will be on “Monday Night Football” at home against the Buffalo Bills. This decision by the New York Jets was not shocking as the relationship between Saleh and star Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had reportedly soured in recent weeks. Rodgers will face the brunt of the pressure following this move as he will be looking to save the franchise with the head coach being fired.
New York is looking to make the NFL Playoffs for the first time since 2010 as they currently hold the longest playoff drought in professional sports. Following their game with Buffalo, the Jets have two road games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots. The Jets hope that moving off Saleh will lead to success on the gridiron.
