Spurs Finally Get Great News on Former All-Star Fox
The San Antonio Spurs have been without De’Aaron Fox all season long due to a hamstring injury, and now, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Fox is set to make his 2025-26 season debut against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday evening. This will make the Spurs even more of a threat than they already are, especially with the last two games, as the team has played without him as teams started to double and triple team the young phenom Victor Wembanyama. So this is amazing news for San Antonio. Let’s look at how this will impact the team moving forward.
Fox’s impact on the Floor

Fox’s ability to create with the dribble and actually be a good scoring threat from the point guard position is going to not only open things up more for him, but for Wemby and Stephon Castle as well. Although Castle has played well from the point guard spot in Swipa’s absence, you can see in the last couple of games the Spurs have played how the offense can struggle at times without an experienced point guard on the floor. So with San Antonio at 5-2 right now, this is a great spot to be for his return on Saturday. It should be interesting to see how he looks in his debut on Saturday.
Final Thoughts
This is a huge move for the landscape of the loaded Western Conference at this moment because San Antonio is in the mix with the Thunder, Nuggets, and Lakers at the top of the conference. The addition of the former Sacramento King is going to open this offense two-fold, with Wemby and him leading the attack.
I think Wemby is going to be back at that early-season form with the former all-star point guard on the floor, obviously. I also like Castle to get some shine, as well as the third option on this team with Swipa back. It will be interesting to see the dynamic of Castle and Swipa in the backcourt starting on Saturday.
