Memphis Grizzlies Star Ja Morant Out For Critical Game 4
The Memphis Grizzlies were dealt a brutal blow heading into a critical Game 4. Earlier today it was announced star Point Guard Ja Morant will miss Game 4 with a hip injury. He suffered the injury late in the first half of last night’s 114-108 home loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Morant took a hard fall and never returned to the game. He was seen with crutches late in the game. Today’s news sealed his fate for Game 4.
Morant was playing well before being injured. He scored 15 points and added 5 assists. It was an injury-plagued season for the point guard. He was limited to 50 games during the regular season and sprained his ankle in the NBA Play-In Tournament. How will the Memphis Grizzlies fare in Game 4 without Morant?
Memphis Grizzlies Collapse Without Morant
Memphis was in a great position to win Game 3 and trail 2-1 in the series. Instead, what took place will go down in the NBA history books. The Grizzlies blew a 26-point second half lead. That was the largest second half comeback in postseason history.
Game 3’s debacle came on the heels of a blowout loss in Game 1. Their 51-point loss was the fifth-largest in postseason history. Following a historic meltdown last night and the loss of Morant for Game 4, the Memphis Grizzlies will lack motivation heading into Saturday afternoon’s contest.
Final Thoughts
Morant’s season has not gone well. The team collapsed down the stretch of the regular season, and Morant was disciplined multiple times by the league for his celebrations after made three-pointers. With their season presumably ending Saturday, the Memphis Grizzlies need Morant to be better next year.
