Golden State Warriors Forward Jimmy Butler Out For Critical Game 3
The Golden State Warriors were dealt a critical blow hours before a crucial Game 3. Small Forward Jimmy Butler has been ruled out tonight against the Houston Rockets with a deep glute muscle contusion. Jonathan Kuminga will start in his place.
Butler suffered the injury early in Game 2 against the Houston Rockets. Without Butler in the lineup, Golden State’s offense looked lifeless. They shot an anemic 41.3% from the field. This caused Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr to turn to a variety of lineups to get the job done. Unfortunately, they lost 109-94 sending the series back to Golden State tied at 1.
Golden State Warriors Face An Uphill Battle Tonight
Butler’s arrival to Golden State revitalized the team. With him on the roster, the Warriors looked like a championship contender. With no Butler tonight, the Golden State Warriors will need all of its players to contribute on the offense and defensive end. Butler has unlocked the squad on both ends of the floor.
Stephen Curry must be at his best for Golden State to win Game 3. He will also need role players like Brandin Podziemski and Kuminga to play well. If they play like they did in Game 2, Golden State will find itself down 2-1 in a few hours.
Final Thoughts
Golden State will be hard-pressed to win tonight, even at home. Curry, one of the best players in NBA history, will need to turn back the clock once more for the Golden State Warriors. The team faces a tough task. By leaning on their championship pedigree against a young Rockets squad, a win can happen.
