Carmelo Anthony Introduced At 2025 Kentucky Derby As NBC NBA Studio Analyst
Carmelo Anthony was hired by NBC in February for their upcoming NBA season coverage to be a studio analyst. Anthony has had experience doing some media with his podcast, so this is a great hire by NBC for their NBA studio coverage. The Hall of Famer was at the Kentucky Derby this past weekend to be officially welcomed to the NBA on NBC team. Anthony had many great things to say about his plans with NBC.
Carmelo Anthony’s Segment In Review
The Kentucky Derby coverage is always a long, drawn-out coverage for a few minutes on the track, but this year’s coverage was worth it a little bit. We got more NBA on NBC news and the introduction of Carmelo to the NBC team. NBC’s Ahmed Fareed, who was filling in for Mike Tirico, asked Anthony what he was looking forward to most with being with NBC. Here’s what he said.
“I think just building a team,” Anthony said. “Like getting back into a team-oriented kind of aspect. Talking the game. Speaking the game. Figuring out what’s the why on what a lot of people are doing, a lot of players are doing in the game. The game within the game, I think, needs to be talked about.”
Final Thoughts
From that quote from Anthony, I think we are finally getting some NBA coverage that talks about the game itself, instead of these hypothetical hot takes between a previous era and the current era. If we get what I think we’re getting from the NBC Studio, then I think the NBC coverage will be the desired coverage to tune into for the NBA action and strong competition for the ESPN coverage overall. This should make that coverage a little better as well.
