Trent Grisham Makes Shocking Decision Regarding $22 Million Qualifying Offer From Yankees
The New York Yankees are looking to improve this offseason, and one of the first moves was seeing what outfielder Trent Grisham would do after being given the qualifying offer. The contract offer is a one-year, $22.025 million contract and if he declines, whichever team signs him would have to send the Yankees a draft pick as well.
Let’s take a deeper dive into the qualifying offer and what Trent Grisham’s decision was.
Trent Grisham Accepts 2026 Qualifying Offer

Trent Grisham will remain with the New York Yankees for the 2026 season as he has officially accepted the qualifying offer. He had a career season as he posted a .811 OPS with 34 home runs, 74 RBI, and 87 runs scored over 143 games in 2025. However, he was held to just 4-for-29 in the postseason and slowed down towards the end of the season as well.
This contract makes things a bit more intriguing for the Yankees as they look to also re-sign Cody Bellinger, but they will have Grisham under contract as well to play every day center field. This is going to be interesting to see how the team looks going forward, but the re-signing of Grisham should not limit what the team does this offseason.
Grisham also could simply mean a player like Jasson Dominguez or Spencer Jones is available if they were to sign another outfielder. This will be something to watch, but coming off his best season and coming in the Juan Soto trade to the Yankees, Grisham will be wearing the pinstripes for the 2026 season.
