Detroit Tigers Starting Pitcher Tarik Skubal Let Down By Offense Against Toronto Blue Jays
Detroit Tigers Starting Pitcher Tarik Skubal was at the top of his game tonight at home against the Toronto Blue Jays. He tossed six scoreless innings and punched out seven. The issue for the Detroit Tigers was when the starting pitcher exited tonight’s ballgame.
Detroit’s pitching staff surrendered six earned runs in three innings of work. The Detroit Tigers lost 6-1, and the starting pitcher walked away with a no-decision. The Tigers only mustered two hits this evening. Saturday night was another great start for the ace. Skubal is seventh in the league in wins, second in ERA, leading the league in strikeouts, leading in WHIP, and fifth in WHIP. Can he keep pitching as well over the summer?

Skubal debuted with the Detroit Tigers in 2020. He started showing flashes of the pitcher he would become during the 20223 season. He built on it with a 2024 season for the ages. He won the “pitching triple crown” and the AL Cy Young Award. The star lefty has followed up 2024 by pitching even better this season.
Final Thoughts
Skubal’s next scheduled start is August 1 on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies. This will be a stiff test for the ace. The Phillies feature one of the best lineups in Major League Baseball. If the Tigers ace can keep it going, back-to-back AL Cy Young Awards could be on the horizon.
