Starting Pitcher Ross Stripling Announces Retirement From MLB Following 9 Seasons
Starting Pitcher Ross Stripling announced his retirement from Major League Baseball following 9 years in the league on Monday. He signed a Minor League contract with the Kansas City Royals but requested his release from the team after he would not make the Major League roster for Opening Day. Following a lack of interest from the league, his professional career came to an end. How will his career be remembered?
Ross Stripling Career Summary
Stripling made his debut in 2016 and spent parts of the first five seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He then latched onto the Toronto Blue Jays late in the 2020 season. He remained there until the conclusion of the 2020 season. He spent 2023 with the San Francisco Giants and his final season with the Oakland Athletics.
Stripling made his lone MLB All-Star appearance in 2018 with the Dodgers. He ended his career with a 40-54 career record and a 4.17 ERA. Unfortunately, he struggled in the MLB Playoffs. He had a poor 5.59 ERA across 12 appearances.
Final Thoughts
Even though Stripling did not have a great MLB career, he was a solid professional. While he will be remembered for years to come, he left an impact in the locker room and was a beloved teammate during his career.
