Series Victory for Yankees as They Win 3rd Game with Padres
The Series win for the Yankees with a loss is great, because the San Diego Padres have one of the best records in the MLB. The Yankees had a very high likelihood of winning the series because they were 7-0 in starts by Max Fried, who has been outstanding this year. The San Diego starting pitcher, Dylan Cease, is good but has struggled so far this season, though not tonight. Do you think pitchers’ duels, like this one, are better than high-scoring games?

Game NotesÂ
This was the third, and so-called rubber game, of the series.
The Yankees exploded for ten runs in the seventh inning last night. That outburst was capped by a grand slam home run from Wells, who was moved up to third in the Yankees’ batting order.
The weather was finally pretty good for this game. At game time it was in the upper sixties and the was no chance of rain. There will be a low chance of rain when the Yankees travel to the West Coast.
With his home run last night, Judge tied for the major league lead with 12. Coming into this game, he is batting .412. The superlatives for the Yankee slugger just keep coming.
The Yankees were being no-hit by Cease through six and a third innings before Bellinger hit a home run. Cease threw a no-hitter against the Washington Nationals last season.
Cease was taken out of the game, the batter after Bellinger, Dominguez, had a 1-2 count. Cease was replaced by Jason Adam. Cease had no-hit stuff, there was some doubt with him in the game whether the Yankees were going to win the series.
Fried was removed by the Yankees after 100 pitches and 7 innings. Neither he nor Cease could win the game, which was tied after 7 innings.
Grisham’s home run in the eighth inning was his tenth home run of the year. That is one more than he had last year.
The Yankees lead the major league with 62 home runs.
Conclusion
With the San Diego Padres having one of the best records in baseball, they were going to be a tough test for the Yankees. However, the Yankees played great in this series and now benefit from having an off day tomorrow as they travel to the West Coast. They play the surprising Oakland Athletics (in Sacramento) and then the Yankees travel to Seattle to play a series against a good Mariners team.
