San Francisco Giants First Baseman Wilmer Flores With Tremendous Game
San Francisco Giants First Baseman Wilmer Flores had a game for the ages Friday night at home against the Athletics. He finished the game with 3 home runs and 8 RBI. Both totals were career highs for Flores. He nearly drove in all 9 of San Francisco’s runs last night.
He is one of only five San Francisco Giants players in history to have 3+ home runs and 8 RBI in a single game. Since RBI became official in 1920, the only other MLB player to drive in 80% of the runs scored in a game (min. 10 total runs) was Yogi Berra on July 3, 1957. Flores has gotten off to a strong start in 2025. He is tied for the league lead in RBI. Will he be able to maintain his high level of play for the San Francisco Giants?
San Francisco Giants Season Summary
It has been a good start to the year for the Giants. They are in third place in the National League West with a 26-19 record. San Francisco’s offense has been mediocre. They are 20th in batting average, 12th in home runs, and eighth in runs scored. Flores has been the team’s best offensive player in 2025.
San Fran’s pitching staff has been the stronger part of their ballclub this season. They are eighth in ERA, 10th in strikeouts, and 12th in WHIP. Starting Pitchers Robbie Ray and Logan Webb have led the team’s pitching staff. Ray is tied for the league lead in wins while Webb is 12th in ERA and eighth in strikeouts.
Final Thoughts
Flores and the San Francisco Giants return to the diamond this evening for the middle game of their three-game set against the Athletics. If the Giants can keep pitching well while getting improved production at the plate, they can keep winning games.
