Onslaught Ends For New York Yankees In Game 3 Vs. Baltimore Orioles
The onslaught offensively ended for the New York Yankees on the night after they led off the game with back-to-back-to-back home runs for the second time this season. They became the first team to do so, but they lost this game 5-4 behind Starting Pitcher Carlos Carrasco.
The Yankees needed an offensive onslaught in this game because Carrasco, who has pitched better of late, is the Yankees’ fifth starting pitcher. Fortunately for the Yankees, with an off day tomorrow and low recent usage meant the bullpen was good to go. Did you think the Yankees had a low chance of winning this game with no offensive onslaught?

 Game Notes: Onslaught Ends
The weather was much warmer today than it was yesterday. At game time, it was 86 degrees Fahrenheit, almost hot. It was partly cloudy at the start of the game. That was good weather for runs, but it was not to be.
The incomparable Judge is wrapping up a historic April. Judge leads Major League Baseball in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, on-base plus slugging average (OPS), hits, and total bases (83). He also has 9 home runs. He is the leader of the Yankees’ offensive onslaughts.
In last night’s game against Baltimore, the Yankees started the game with back-to-back-to-back home runs. That was the second time this season the Yankees had accomplished that feat. They are the first team in MLB history to do that. It seems they are good at offensive onslaughts.
Also in last night’s 15-3 victory over the Orioles, the Yankees’ Starting Pitcher, Carlos Rodon, was perfect through five innings. He benefited from the onslaught, so, his great effort was wasted a bit.
The benches cleared during the bottom of the fourth inning after a steal of second base by Kjerstad. As Kjerstad slid into the bag, Yankees Second Baseman Pablo Reyes leaped into the air to try to catch a high throw from Wells. Then Kjerstad said something to Reyes, and the benches cleared and the bullpens emptied.
Conclusion
The Yankees series in Baltimore is filled with what-ifs. They are off tomorrow. This is their second Thursday off day in a row, and the rest is much needed. It comes after playing for 13 consecutive games before last week’s off day. The Yankees host another American League East foe the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees match up well with the Rays, as they just won two of three games in Tampa. They look to continue the offensive onslaught.
