New York Mets With Miserable Last 10 Games
The New York Mets had the second-best record in baseball and a commanding lead in the National League East just a few weeks ago. Now they are in second place in the division after going 1-9 over their last 10 games. New York looked like arguably the best team in the league in mid-June. That is why this slide has been so surprising.
New York’s woes began with back-to-back series sweeps at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays and Atlanta Braves. They then lost two of three against the Phillies and the opening game of their four-game set against the Atlanta Braves. The team’s offense has been especially poor over the last 10 games. They have been outscored 65-31 over this stretch. Will the New York Mets get back on track sooner rather than later?
New York Mets Season Summary
New York’s poor stretch has them in second place in the National League East at 46-33. The team’s offense has left much to be desired this year. They are 20th in batting average, seventh in home runs, and 13th in runs scored. Right Fielder Juan Soto has found his form as of late following a poor start. First Baseman Pete Alonso has been another bright spot on the unit. He is third in the league in RBI and sixth in OPS. New York is looking for answers on offense. They sent Catcher Francisco Alvarez down to AAA over the weekend.
The New York Mets had one of the best pitching staffs before this June swoon. New York’s starting rotation was especially good over the first two months of the regular season. The unit has hit a speed bump over the last week and a half. New York is still leading the league in ERA though. They are also ninth in opposing batting average and 16th in WHIP. New York’s pitching staff has had to overcome a rash of injuries in 2025. Kodai Senga was the latest addition to the IL. Once New York’s starting rotation becomes whole, they can continue stifling opposing offenses.
Final Thoughts
