New York Mets Continue Great Play At Home
The New York Mets have gotten off to a tremendous start within the friendly confines of Citi Field. They have gotten off to the best home start(12-1) in franchise history. The team’s only home loss of the season came on April 9 to the Miami Marlins. New York kept their sterling home record going this afternoon in thrilling fashion to complete a 7-0 homestand.
The Mets scored two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4. First Baseman Pete Alonso hit an RBI double to tie for the league lead in that category. He would score later in the inning on a walk-off single by pinch-hitter Sterling Marte. Will the New York Mets keep up their stellar play at home?

New York has been one of the league’s best teams to begin the regular season. They lead the National League East with an 18-7 record. Their offense has been middling. They are 18th in batting average, 18th in home runs, and 13th in runs scored. Alonso has been the club’s best player on offense. He is tied for the league lead in RBI, eighth in batting average, and second in OPS.
The team’s pitching staff has been its strength. They lead the league in ERA by a wide margin, are second in strikeouts, and seventh in opposing batting average. New York’s pitching has been especially good at home this season. The starting rotation has yet to allow a home run at home.
