Miami Marlins Defeat Athletics In Thrilling Fashion
The Miami Marlins gave the home fans something to cheer about Saturday evening. Right Fielder Kyle Stowers hit a walk-off grand slam against Closer Mason Miller to clinch a 9-6 victory. Miller is one of the best closers in the game which makes the result all the more exciting. Miller’s pitch was 101.7 MPH. It was the fastest pitch a Marlins player has homered off since 2008.
Stowers finished the game 2-of-5 with a career-high 6 RBI. He hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third before his heroics in the bottom of the ninth. Stowers has gotten off to a great start this regular season. He is eighth in the league batting average and 11th in RBI. Will he be able to keep up his high level of play for a Miami Marlins team looking to get on track?
Miami Marlins Season Summary
Miami has gotten off to a slow start during the regular season. They are 13-19 and in last place in the National League East. The team’s offense has surprisingly performed well in the early going. They are 10th in batting average, 19th in home runs, and 15th in runs scored. Stowers has been a huge part of the offense.
The issue for the Miami Marlins in 2025 has been a terrible pitching staff. They are 30th in ERA, 30th in WHIP, and 27th in opposing batting average. If the Marlins could maintain its offense, while getting average production on the mound, they could become a threat in the National League.
Final Thoughts
The Marlins will be riding high when they return to the diamond Sunday afternoon against the Athletics. Miami then welcomes the Los Angeles Dodgers to town for a three-game series beginning on Monday. Miami’s offense will need to continue carrying the load until the pitching staff can start showing signs of life.
