Max Fried Solves New York Mets As New York Yankees Prevail In Game 4
Max Fried solved the New York Mets, and the New York Yankees salvaged the third game of the “Subway Series,” 6-4. The Yankees frequently rely on Fried to stop losing streaks. He is 4-0 with a 0.00 earned run average following Yankee losses. Fried has been incredible this season. Do you think Fried is having the best season of any starting pitcher in baseball?

News and NotesÂ
Yankees Starting Pitcher Clarke Schmidt needs Tommy John Surgery and will miss the rest of the season. His absence makes Fried that much more important.
In the six-game losing streak, everything has been going wrong for the New York Yankees. Particularly, pitching, defense, and baserunning.
Everson Pereira, who is now at AAA Scranton for the Yankees, because he can field at the major league level, but he cannot hit. He hit for the cycle yesterday, though.
It is funny, the Mets finished the game with their biggest slugger on deck. Soto ended the game the same way Judge did in the last game, on deck.
Game Reaction
The only thing that matters is that Fried threw five difficult innings, and the Yankees’ bullpen barely held. That was in stark contrast with the other games in this losing streak.
Scoring Summary
In the first inning, Wells hit a solo home run. The Yankees took a 1-0 lead. In the fourth inning, the Yankees scored two runs on groundouts. First, Volpe grounded out and Stanton scored. Then Wells grounded out and Volpe scored. It was 3-0 Yankees. In the fifth inning, Judge hit a two-run home run, and Goldschmidt scored. The Yankees were leading 5-0. In the fifth inning, Lindor singled and McNeil and Senger scored. That made it 5-2 Yankees.
In the sixth inning, the Mets scored two runs. First, McNeil singled and Nimmo scored. Then, Senger hit into a double play, but Mauricio scored. The Yankees’ lead was down to 5-4. Nothing is easy for the Yankees. This game illustrated that. In the seventh inning, Judge hit a sacrifice fly and Goldschmidt scored. That gave the Yankees a 6-4 lead. That is how the game ended. The losing streak is over.
Final Thoughts
The long six-game slide was punctuated by horrible play from the Yankees. It was a good thing the Yankees had Fried going to salvage this game. He had a heroic start. The Yankees have a much-needed off day tomorrow as they travel across New York City to start a two-game series at home against the Mariners. The Mariners are pretty good, but like the Yankees, they are in second place in the American League West.
