Los Angeles Dodgers Edge Out Blue Jays To Force a Game 7
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays have played incredible baseball in the World Series, and it all comes down to Game 7 at Rogers Center tonight. Both teams have shown a tremendous amount of fight, putting together one of the greatest postseason series in the history of the sport.
Dodgers Force a Game 7
With their backs against the wall, the Dodgers were able to prevail. Will Smith started the night off with an RBI double to left in the third inning, scoring Tommy Edman. Mookie Betts followed him up with a two-run single to left field, giving Los Angeles a three-run lead.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto continues to dominate in the playoffs, pitching six innings, allowing just one run, and striking out six batters. Dave Roberts pulled Yamamoto after the sixth inning, after he threw 96 pitches. Justin Wrobleski pitched a clean inning in the seventh, and Roki Sasaki shut Toronto down in the eighth, but ran into trouble in the ninth inning.
Sasaki hit Alejandro Kirk to start the inning, and then Addison Barger hit a ground-rule double to center field, putting runners on second and third with nobody out. The ball got stuck under the wall, and if it hadn’t, Toronto probably would’ve tied the game.
With all momentum going their way, the Dodgers turned to Tyler Glasnow to try to get them out of the jam. Glasnow was able to get Ernie Clement out to third on the first pitch, needing just two more outs. Andres Giménez lined out to Kike Hernandez in left, and Hernandez caught Barger far off the base to turn an unreal double play.
Blue Jays Have One More Shot
The Toronto Blue Jays have shown an incredible amount of fight in every game throughout the postseason. After losing Game 3 in 18 innings, they quickly responded by winning the next two games. It all comes down to Game 7 this evening, as they look to respond and win their first Championship since 1993.
The Blue Jays will send Max Scherzer out on the mound, with all hands on deck right behind him. The Dodgers haven’t announced a starter for Game 7, but they are expected to feature all of their starters. If Los Angeles can win, they’ll be the first team to win back-to-back titles in a quarter-century.
It will be a poetic finish for both teams, as they will go all out to finish off hard-fought seasons.
