Chicago Cubs’ Offense Powers Them To 11-3 Victory Over the St. Louis Cardinals
The Chicago Cubs’ offense had an Independence Day to remember at home against the St. Louis Cardinals. Chicago’s offense had a historic first three innings. The Cubs hit six home runs in the first 3 innings of the contest. First Baseman Michael Busch and Center Fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong came out of the gates firing on all cylinders. They each went yard twice in the first 3 innings.
It was the first time in Cubs history that two players had two home runs apiece in the first 3 innings of a game. Designated Hitter Seiya Suzuki and Catcher Carson Kelly added home runs to cap off the first 3 innings. Busch added a third round-tripper in the 7th. The Chicago Cubs set a franchise record with eight home runs today. All these home runs gave Starting Pitcher Colin Rea more than enough room to operate. The only hit he surrendered was a solo home run over 6.2 innings of work. Will Chicago’s offense continue playing this well?

It has been a strong first half of the regular season for the Chicago Cubs. Their 53-35 record is the second-best in the National League. As was on display this afternoon, Chicago’s offense is one of the league’s best. They are seventh in batting average, third in home runs, and second in runs scored. Suzuki and Crow-Armstrong have paced the team’s offense this year. Suzuki is sixth in the league in home runs and the league leader in RBI. Crow-Armstrong is seventh in home runs and ninth in RBI.
Chicago’s pitching staff has been the weaker part of the team in 2025. They are 13th in ERA, eighth in WHIP, and 17th in opposing batting average. Starting Pitcher Matthew Boyd is 12th in the league in ERA.
Final Thoughts
Chicago’s offense will look to keep it going tomorrow afternoon at home against the St. Louis Cardinals. If the Cubs can continue playing this well, they can make some noise in the National League.
