Carlos Rodon Looks To Salvage Game 4
Carlos Rodon looked to be the stopper for the Yankees as they have lost the first three games of this four-game series. The Yankees needed a good start from him because they had lost eight consecutive games to the Red Sox. It is a good thing for the Yankees that Rodon was able to have a good game. The Yankees salvaged this fourth game of the series by winning 7-2. Rodon probably just pitched the biggest game of his life. Do the Yankees look like a playoff team to you?

News and Notes
The Yankees were embarrassed yesterday as they dropped the third game of this series to the Boston Red Sox 12-1. The Yankees have lost eight straight games to the Red Sox, and they have lost the season series to the Red Sox. They made a boatload of mental and physical errors in the game yesterday, particularly in a nightmareish ninth inning.
Volpe started on the bench today. He might be benched tomorrow, too, Yankee Manager Aaron Boone said. Volpe has been awful in the field and especially at bat. Caballero played shortstop for the Yankees, backing up Rodon. The Yankees may not be doing well, but the baby bombers are. David Hess had a nine-strikeout performance in AA Somerset. AAA outfielder Spencer Jones has 32 home runs. Many have been titanic shots.
Game Reaction
After two innings, Rodon looks to be having a good game. That is excellent. The Yankees need a big start from him. In the fourth inning, with a four-run lead, Rodon walked the leadoff guy. That made no sense. However, Rodon benefited from a double play. It seems that if the Yankees do not hit home runs, they do not win.
Rodon pitched well for the Yankees when they needed him to. He threw 5.2 innings and relied upon contact to get those outs. In the fifth inning, he ran into problems, throwing more than 30 pitches and walking the bases loaded. Luke Weaver replaced him.
Scoring Summary
In the second inning, Chisholm Jr. hit a two-run home run. Stanton also scored. It was Chisholm’s 100th career home run. The Yankees led 2-0. In the third inning, Grisham hit a solo home run, and the Yankees led 3-0. In the fourth inning, Cabaerollo hit a sacrifice fly. The Yankees led 4-0.
In the fifth inning, Grisham hit his second home run of the game. It was another solo home run, and the Yankees led 5-0. In the sixth inning, Lowe singled, and that scored two runs. Both Gonzalez and Bregman scored. It was 5-2 Yankees. In the eighth inning, Chisholm Jr. hit another home run. This one was a two-run homer. Goldschmidt scored, and the Yankees led 7-2. That was how it ended.
Conclusion
It gets easier now for the Yankees as they have back-to-back series against the Washington Nationals and the Chicago White Sox. Rodon and the Yankees would have liked to do better against the Boston Red Sox. That series is over now. The important thing is to beat up on the bad teams on the schedule. The Yankees cannot afford to make any more mistakes. They have not looked like a playoff team, and they need to come close to winning out in the rest of their games.
