Carlos Carrasco Good as Yanks Lose Game 1
Carlos Carrasco needed to have a good start for the New York Yankees. He did in the last game he started. Though he was up and down in his past four starts, Carlos Carrasco was pretty good in the Yankees’ 4-2 loss. He was helped by the fact that Toronto had many problems scoring runs. It will be interesting to see what the Yankees do with Carlos Carrasco when Marcus Stroman comes off the injured list because, as he told everyone, he was a starting pitcher. When he returns, the Yankees will have six starting pitchers if nobody else gets hurt. What do you think the Yankees will do with Carlos Carrasco when Marcus Stroman gets back?

Scoring Summary: Carlos Carrasco GoodÂ
In the sixth inning, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a solo home run off Tim Hill, and the Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead. In the seventh inning, Oswaldo Cabrera singled, and Anthony Volpe, who, in a good sign, doubled, scored. That score tied the game at 1. Austin Wells hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, scoring Cody Bellinger. That gave the Yabeses a 2-1 lead.
The Yankees scored to take a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning, making the game a save situation. So, Yankee closer Devin Williams got a save opportunity. In the 9th inning, Alejandro Kirk hit a two-run double and the Blue Jays took a 3-2 lead. Devin Williams lacks confidence and has forgotten how to pitch. Addison Barger then singled in Alejandro Kirk, and the Blue Jays extended their lead to 4-2.
Game Notes
The weather was 66 degrees Fahrenheit, and it was partly cloudy at the start of the game. It was forecast to rain heavily after 2 AM. Tomorrow’s game is in doubt. Carlos Carrasco had a 6.53 earned run average coming into tonight’s game. That was poor. However, in this game, he pitched five scoreless innings. The Blue Jays made big news when they signed slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a 14-year, $500 million contract. Surprisingly, Toronto has only 13 home runs.
That is 28th in Major League Baseball. Only the Kansas City Royals, with 12. The Yankees have four players batting under .200, or on the interstate, so they say. Clay Bellinger, Jazz Chisolm Jr., Anthony Volpe, and Austin Wells. The batting averages are depressed across the league, but this is unacceptable. In this game against the Blue Jays, they bet consecutively.

The Incomparable Aaron Judge
Aaron Judge was 6 for 8 in his last two games in Cleveland and is now batting a robust .415. He is doing this nearly a month into the season. It is doubtful Aaron Judge will bat .400 or greater this season. At 15-10, the Yankees have played 25 games this season. Last season, when he was the unanimous most valuable player in the American League, Judge hit only .250. He is off to a much better start this season than last season. With his hit tonight, he has reached base in 22 consecutive games.
Conclusion
The Yankees needed Carlos Carrasco to pitch well. He did as the Yankees lost this game 4-2. Carlos Carrasco was helped because the Toronto Blue Jays could not hit, but the bullpen blew the game for him. After five scoreless innings, Carlos Carrasco was relieved, and this game was going to be decided by the bullpen. With an off day yesterday, the Yankees could use their high-leverage relief arms. However, Devin Williams was awful again and blew the game.
