Baltimore Orioles Offense Gets Off To Quick Start; Let Down By Pitching In 6-5 Loss
The offense of the Baltimore Orioles had a great game tonight at home against the Colorado Rockies. Baltimore’s offense got off to an especially quick start this evening. Second Baseman Jordan Westburg and Right Fielder Tyler O’Neill hit solo home runs in the 1st inning. First Baseman Coby Mayo and Catcher Alex Jackson added solo shots in the 2nd inning. The Baltimore Orioles then surrendered five unanswered runs.Â
An RBI single by Orioles Second Baseman Jackson Holliday in the bottom of the 7th tied the game at 5. Colorado responded by tacking on another run in the top of the 8th inning to take a 6-5 lead. That was how the game ended. How will the rest of this series unfold?
Baltimore Orioles Season Summary
This season has not gone according to plan for the Baltimore Orioles. They entered with playoff aspirations. Instead, they are in last place in the American League East. This game was a great microcosm for the 2025 Orioles. They are an inconsistent ballclub. Baltimore is 23rd in batting average, 11th in home runs, and 22nd in runs scored. No Orioles player has stood out on offense this season.
Baltimore’s pitching staff has also left much to be desired. They are 27th in team ERA, 27th in WHIP, and 29th in opposing batting average. Dean Kremer, who pitched this evening, leads the ballclub in wins and ERA among qualified pitchers. The Orioles also traded Relief Pitcher Gregory Soto to the New York Mets. Following such an underwhelming season, the team may be unloading some of its other top players.
Final Thoughts
The Baltimore Orioles return to the diamond tomorrow night against the Colorado Rockies. This is a series between two of the worst teams in Major League Baseball. Hopefully, the next two games of this series will be just as entertaining.Â
