Baltimore Orioles Fire Manager Brandon Hyde
The Baltimore Orioles entered 2025 with high expectations. 40+ games into the regular season, they fired Manager Brandon Hyde. Following a terrible start to the year, Hyde paid the price for the poor start. Hyde’s tenure with the Baltimore Orioles ended with a 421-492 record.
Baltimore also fired Catching Instructor/Field Coordinator Tim Cossins. Tony Mansolino will serve as the interim manager. Coming off back-to-back playoff appearances and one of the best young cores in Major League Baseball, the team was looking to make some noise this season. Instead, they have fallen flat on their face coming out of the gate. Will a managerial change lead to on-field success for the Baltimore Orioles?
Baltimore Orioles Season Summary
Baltimore shockingly has the fourth-worst record in Major League Baseball at 15-28. They have also dropped four straight games. The Orioles have been terrible on offense. They are 25th in batting average and 25th in runs scored. Baltimore has many high-profile players, but all have struggled at the plate in 2025.
The team’s pitching staff has arguably been worse than their offense. They are 28th in ERA, 29th in opposing batting average, and 26th in WHIP. Veteran Starting Pitcher Charlie Morton has been horrendous. He is 0-7 with an 8.35 ERA.Â
Final Thoughts
The first game of the Mansolino era will be this afternoon at home against the Washington Nationals. Baltimore has a talented roster, but has not played like it in 2025. They are running out of time to get on track in a competitive American League.
