While the Home Run Derby has Gunnar Henderson and his power, surprisingly the derby had Alec Bohm of the Phillies. While the Phillies have power this season, Alec Bohm is not one of them. Bohm this season has 11 home runs with 70 RBIs and 28 doubles.
The selection for this derby is strange due to his high doubles and lack of home run power. While the bracket is not complete, this selection is strange due to the lack of power from Bohm this season. Along with the lack of power, this event can also be a strain on players after the derby. This could harm Bohm’s hitting in the long term if not taken care of after.

The lack of star power in the home run derby like Aaron Judge, and Shohei Ohtani will not allow the league to bring in new fans during a time when the league wants to showcase the game’s best and brightest. Along with the lack of star power, getting players with a lack of power could damage the reputation of the derby.
While the prestige of the Home Run Derby is not the same, missing MLB all-star power bats would not bring new viewers to the game.
