Milwaukee Brewers Finding Form During Important 2024 Season

The Milwaukee Brewers continued to dominate at home.

The Milwaukee Brewers have hit their stride as of late winning eight of their last 10 games. They defeated the Colorado Rockies 3-0 last night behind a great start by Milwaukee Brewers Starting Pitcher Colin Rea. He tossed seven scoreless innings, and his offense did the rest. The team scored a run in the first, second, and fifth innings on Wednesday night. Christian Yelich, Garrett Mitchell, and Jake Bauers all added an RBI in the shutout victory.

Milwaukee’s winning ways included taking the final game of their series with the San Diego Padres, sweeping the defending champion Texas Rangers, winning two of three games against the Chicago Cubs, and finally winning two of their first three games on the road against the Colorado Rockies. Milwaukee has outscored their opponents 48-29 over the last 10 games.

Will the Milwaukee Brewers be able to keep up their high level of play as the MLB All-Star break nears?

Milwaukee Brewers Season Summary

Milwaukee(52-35) holds a commanding lead in the National League Central and has the third-best record in the National League. They have been one of the best teams at home this season with a record of 27-13. Milwaukee’s offense has been strong this season. They are 14th in batting average, 15th in home runs, and fifth in runs scored. Their offense has been led by Catcher William Contreras and Shortstop Willy Adames.

Contreras is top 25 in the league in both batting average and RBI. Adames leads the club in many offensive categories and is 12th in the league in RBI. With the 2024 MLB All-Star selections announced last night, the Milwaukee Brewers will have one representative starting the “Midsummer Classic” in just a few weeks. Left Fielder Christian Yelich will start the game for the National League. Yelich is hitting .333 with nine home runs and 37 RBI. He is also 11th in the league in OPS. He does not qualify due to only playing in 61 games this season.

The pitching staff of the Milwaukee Brewers has also been strong in 2024. They are ninth in ERA, 14th in opposing batting average, and 12th in WHIP. Rea leads the team with eight wins and Starting Pitcher Freddy Peralta is sixth in the league in strikeouts. Closer Trevor Megill is also ninth in the league in saves.

Brewers Upcoming Schedule

The Brewers play the final game of their series with the Colorado Rockies tonight. They then travel to Los Angeles for a critical three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers and Brewers are separated by just one game in the National League standings. This will be the first time this season these National League heavyweights will face off. They face off again in Milwaukee in late August.

This will be an important series for both teams as they will get a barometer of where they stand in the National League hierarchy. These ballclubs last played in the MLB Playoffs during the 2020 Wild Card series. Los Angeles won the series 2-0 and went on to win the World Series. The Milwaukee Brewers were also bested in the 2018 NLCS in seven games by the Dodgers.

Milwaukee looks well on their way to their sixth playoff appearance in seven seasons and their first World Series in franchise history. The Brewers have gotten off in 2024 and hope to keep it going late into October as they set their sights on history.
