The Gunners went into the game after a hard-fought draw against Man City in the Premier League. Arsenal had led the Pep Guardiola side 2-1 until a late John Stones goal salvaged a draw for the North London club.
Mikel Arteta had to worry about his players’ fitness ahead of the Bolton clash, this prompted him to rest key players ahead of the game. Allowing the likes of Raheem Sterling, Nwaneri, and some other youngsters to secure their first start of the season. He was highly pleased with both the youngsters and Raheem Sterling for their display.

Arsenal hosted Bolton in the third round of the Carabao Cup tie. The Gunners had rested certain key stars ahead of the game, and they also had some major players injured in the names of Odegaard, Merino, Zinchenko, and Tomiyasu. However, the Gunners were still firing well despite the absence of their first team. They took the lead through Declan Rice in the 16th minute. A few minutes later a fine pass from Raheem Sterling found Nwaneri to give them another lead. It was two-nil at half-time.
The Youngster Nwaneri soon got a brace just a few minutes into the second half, with Declan Rice doing the assist. Bolton managed to pull one back with Collins, nonetheless, it didn’t stop Arsenal from continuing their dominance of the game. A well-deserved goal soon came for Raheem Sterling. The Englishman had been fantastic all through the game, and he was rewarded with the 4th goal. In the 77th minute, Kai Havertz made it five.

Mikel Arteta spoke about his team and the Youngsters who were expected to go to class the next day. He was very pleased with the boys. And he said: “There are a few players who have school in the morning! They are buzzing. Ethan was really good. A really strong performance. He feels part of us and is playing with that confidence and belief.
He also spoke about Jack Porter who took the place of David Raya temporarily. He was full of praise for the 16-year-old. He said: “To start in the Premier League is another step. On his journey, he is ahead of where we expected. He will have minutes. He deserves it. It was a big step for Jack. He was over the moon. His family were nervous. But he coped really well. What a way to break a record.
He finally added: “He’s been training with us. We thought he was ready. We believe he was the right choice. It’s a very positive night. We gave the opportunity to a lot of academy players and they responded really well. To see their faces, their reaction, a great night.”
What’s Ahead for Arsenal
The Gunners will be hosting Leicester in their next fixture in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta will hope to keep managing his team ahead of the high numbers of games ahead. As it stands they are still without a number of key players, including their captain Martin Odegaard.
