Michigan Basketball Gets Essential Transfer For 2024-2025 Season To Bolster Roster

Michigan basketball lands a key recruit on Saturday as they look to retool their roster.

New Michigan basketball Head Coach Dusty May continues to bolster the Wolverines roster this offseason. Former Yale Forward Danny Wolf announced on Saturday his decision to play for the team during the 2024-2025 season. Wolf averaged 14.1 points, 9.7 boards, and 1.3 blocks per game last season with the Bulldogs. Wolf was top 25 in rebounds last season and had a game last year with four rejections. Wolf was also named First Team All-Ivy League last season.

How will Wolf fit on a new-look Michigan basketball team this season?

Danny Wolf Career Summary

Wolf will be entering his third season of college basketball in Ann Arbor. He had no impact during the 2022-2023 season averaging only 2.6 points per game and 2.1 rebounds. On the contrary, Wolf was the driving force behind a Yale team that defeated No. 4 seed Auburn in the First Round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. He had 13 points and five boards against the heavily favored Tigers.

The Bulldogs tournament run ended in the Round of 32 when they lost by 28 to San Diego State. Wolf struggled as he was only able to muster nine points on 26 percent shooting from the field.

Michigan hired former FAU Head Coach Dusty May on March 24. May came to the Wolverines following two straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. May was at the helm when Florida Atlantic made an improbable run as a No. 9 seed to the “Final Four” during the 2023 NCAA Tournament. He was unable to recapture the magic from last year’s tournament as Florida Atlantic bowed out in the Round of 64 this season against Northwestern in an overtime thriller.

Michigan made a coaching change this offseason when they fired former national champion, as a player, Juwan Howard after five seasons at his alma mater. Michigan went 8-24 last year. A .25o winning was the third-lowest in the history of Michigan basketball and their worst winning percentage since the 1960-1961 season.

May Replenishes Michigan Wolverines Roster

Wolf is not the only key player who will be playing for Michigan basketball during the 2024-2025 season as Center Vladislav Goldin followed his former coach to Ann Arbor. The 7′ 1″ Goldin and 7′ 0″ Wolf will provide one of the biggest frontcourts in college basketball next season. Following a season where the Michigan defense was one of the worst in the nation surrendering 79 points per game, the combination of these two should improve the team’s defense greatly.

The Wolverines also landed North Texas Guard Rubin Jones earlier this week from the transfer portal. The Wolverines, and May, are far from done as they have many top players visiting the “Wolverine State” in the coming weeks.

May has his fingerprints all over the roster as he looks to return Michigan basketball to the level of success they have grown accustomed to. He looks to help the Wolverines add to their lone national championship from back in 1989.
