Markieff Morris’ 4 Words Show Interest In Dallas Mavericks

PJ Washington and Dallas Mavericks

Markieff Morris has four words for the Dallas Mavericks: “One of these days!” Recently, Dallas has seemingly debated whether to re-sign Morris, 34. He is a free agent power forward who will turn 35 on September 2. If the Mavericks decide to re-sign the veteran forward, they’ll be required to make a roster move, which will likely be Shooting Guard AJ Lawson. The Mavericks reportedly appreciate Lawson’s presence, but Morris’ veteran leadership was valuable to them during the 2023-24 NBA season.

Read on for further information surrounding Morris’ four word message on X, formerly Twitter, and Dallas’ potential and difficult decisions.

Markieff Morris’ Message To The Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks Legend Dirk Nowitzki

On Thursday morning, Markieff Morris responded to a post on X from MFFL Nation. The post read, “Good morning… Today would be a great day for the Dallas Mavericks to re-sign Markieff Morris.” Morris responded, “One of these days!”

Mavericks fans likely took Morris’ four word message to MFFL Nation as optimism, as the 34-year-old appeared hopeful. The latter is a free agent forward who last played for the Mavs in 2023-24 and contributed to the Mavs’ run to the 2024 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.

Mavericks’ Potential Decision

The Dallas Mavericks’ potential decision would be to re-sign Markieff Morris and let go of AJ Lawson. But this probably wouldn’t be a win-win situation. Morris’ veteran leadership has arguably been helpful to the Mavericks’ success as the 2023-24 NBA Western Conference champions, while Lawson’s presence has been just as helpful if not more.

The Mavericks’ current roster situation seems to be at a crossroads as they likely won’t be able to create a successful plan for both Morris and Lawson. But, despite the Mavs’ roster situation, they seem to have a similar interest in Markieff, who reportedly recruited his identical twin brother, Marcus, to them.

Upcoming Difficult Decision

If Markieff Morris wanted to join a different NBA team, he probably wouldn’t have written a four-word message to MFFL Nation on X and reportedly recruited his identical twin brother Marcus to the Dallas Mavericks. Markieff’s effort appears to be consistent in attracting the Dallas Mavericks’ attention.

The Mavericks’ difficult decision would be to create a different trade centered on another NBA player, but that might not happen. The Mavericks would most likely re-sign Morris or keep Lawson ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season. The Mavs might lean towards Morris, as every player on their roster seems to respect him, but we’ll see what happens. Morris averaged just 2.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game in the 2023-24 NBA season, and appeared in only 26 games.
