Manchester United came out the victors in one of the most entertaining games of the entire year. The Premier League is well and truly coming down to the last day, which brings first-place drama, relegation woes, games that decide which clubs have the biggest egos, injury upsets, and coach disputes. We love it all.
That is why the Manchester United vs. Newcastle United game was one of the best. It had goals, late drama, incredible strikes, player arguments, and everything you could want in a soccer (or football) match.

The last time that Man U will play at Old Trafford this season turned out to be good luck for the Red Devils. Manchester United has not been playing well at all during the 2023-2024 Premier League campaign, ending the abysmal competition in the middle of the table – about five or six places too low for a side that should at least be in the top five for Europa League.
But, they can hold their head high as they walk out of Old Trafford with a fantastic three-point victory against Newcastle United – a team that was arguably better than them throughout much of the season.
Mainoo, Diallo, and Holjund – the Danish striker- found the back of the net for Manchester United in their tense 3-2 win against Newcastle United yesterday. Although United has been lacking goals, finesse, and creativity throughout the season – especially in their last few matches – they looked on fire against Newcastle.
And the win meant more than just ego or brownie points. The win was vital for Manchester United, who could end up finding their way into the top five for the Europa Conference League if other results go their way. Plus, the loss and dropping three points for Newcastle United means that they could be out of the running for European football next year.

Manchester United vs. Newcastle – How It Happened
A lot of the United goals came late in the game, keeping Old Trafford on the edge of their seats until the final whistle. Hall scored two on the night, netting a fantastic curling shot from the edge of the box in the 90+4 minute to try and see Newcastle United get back into the game with just seconds to spare.
Just one minute earlier, Hall had buried his first goal of the night in the 93rd minute – talk about never giving up. The left-back took matters into his own hands, won the ball from a Manchester United error, and struck the ball sweetly past the Red Devils’ keeper into the far side of the net.
But, United’s goals – finished off by Holjund’s goal in the 88th minute – proved to be just too much for Newcastle. Hojlund showed his athleticism, speed, and strength as he cruised past defenders and found the back of the net with a low and hard shot past the opposing team’s shot-stopper.
Now, Manchester United have just one game left to play against Brighton as an away match for their final fixture of the year. Manchester United are currently in eighth place, tied on points with Newcastle after their big win. If they win their next match, and Chelsea and Newcastle lose, they could end up in sixth place.
Newcastle face off against Brentford, a sure-fire easy win for the Newcastle side who currently sit in seventh with 57 points. If Newcastle win their next match, it will all come down to point differential for who claims 6th, 7th, and 8th in the Premier League this season.
