The Los Angeles Rams could lose star receiver Cooper Kupp for the season and end up on season ending IR. Kupp left Sunday’s blow out game against the Arizona Cardinals with an apparent ankle injury. According to Head Coach Sean McVay said ” Kupp can miss an extended amount of time.”
The Arizona Cardinals dominated the Rams and won 41-10. Cooper Kupp went down in the first quarter, his left ankle rolled on him while being tackled to the ground. He was helped off the field but walked with a limp to the locker room.
Los Angeles Rams Losing Wide Receivers Early Due to Injury
The Los Angeles Rams not only might lose WR Cooper Kupp to season ending IR but they have also lost WR Puka Nacua in the first ame of the season in Detroit to a knee injury. Kupp has led the Rams with 59 receptions, 737 yards and five touchdowns last season. Coming into the 2024 NFL season he has had 18 receptions, 147 yards and one touchdown on the season.
With the Los Angles Rams losing Kupp to season ending IR could be a nightmare with Kupp and Nacua out for an extended period of time. Wide receivers Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson would take over for the Rams as the top wide outs.
This would be the third consecutive season Kupp has suffered during the season. Last season, he played 12 games and suffered a strained hamstring. In 2022, Kupp suffered a sprained ankle that limited him to only playing nine games on the season. But when Cooper is healthy he makes a huge impact in the game. In 2021, he played 17 games led the NFL with 145 receptions, 1947 yards and 16 touchdowns.
The Los Angeles Rams will host the San Francisco 49ners in week three on Sunday. The Rams will look to get their first win of the season now that they are 0-2 losing to the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals. San Francisco will not be an easy opponent either they are coming off a loss to the Minnesota Vikings Sunday after a poor performance in Minnesota.
