The Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the most exciting teams in baseball. They head into 2024 with sky-high expectations after spending over one billion dollars in free agency. While their bats have been hot, especially Mookie Betts, the starting rotation has been suspect. A large part of this is due to injury. Another starter, Bobby Miller, is heading to the Injured List with a shoulder strain.
Los Angeles Dodgers Heads To IL With Shoulder Strain
The Dodgers have placed Bobby Miller and Connor Brogdon on the injured list.
They recalled left-handed pitcher Nick Ramirez and right-handed pitcher J.P. Feyereisen.

Bobby Miller is just 25 years old and in his second season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Last season, Miller went 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA in 22 starts, and there was hope that he would make another leap in 2024. In three starts, he has struggled. Miller is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA, striking out 18 batters and walking six. The team is concerned about his shoulder. Manager Dave Roberts said in a press conference that he doesn’t think there is anything structurally wrong but that it simply needs rest.
The Dodgers will rely on some young pitchers in the short term as they recalled J.P. Feyereisen and left-hander Nick Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma City. If there is good news, it is that the bats came to help any pitcher. There isn’t pressure to hold an opposing team to zero runs.
Los Angeles Dodgers Rotation Ravaged By Injuries
The list of players, especially starting pitchers, on the IL is a growing concern for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Emmet Sheehan, Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin are all injured right now. On top of the starters, reliever Connor Brogden is also on the 15-day IL. While teams can weather the storm in the short term, this could be a concern in the long term.
For a team with the level of talent the Dodgers have, injuries can derail a season. The hope of the Dodgers is they can get everyone healthy and by the time the pennant chase rolls around, everyone is back.
