The Las Vegas Raiders signed Linebacker Devin White to a one-year contract Friday evening. He had a disappointing 2024 season with the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles. White signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason. He was released by the team after being a healthy scratch during the first four games of the regular season.
He had 19 total tackles with the Texans in 7 games last season. White had a great five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was a crucial part of a Buccaneers team that won Super Bowl LV. He was also named to a Pro Bowl during his tenure. White has 585 career tackles, 23 sacks, and 3 interceptions. Will he be able to rebound in 2025 with the Las Vegas Raiders?
Las Vegas Raiders Offseason Outlook
White joins a Vegas team that has been overhauled this offseason. The team hired Super Bowl-winning Head Coach Pete Carroll and traded for Quarterback Geno Smith. White joins a Raiders defense with a few big names including Defensive End Maxx Crosby, Defensive Tackle Christian Wilkins, and Safety Derek Chinn.
The team’s defense was mediocre last season. They were 15th in yards allowed, 15th against the pass, and 25th in points allowed. The Las Vegas Raiders also upgraded its offense by signing Running Back Raheem Mostert and Guard Alex Kappa. White and Kappa were teammates on Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl-winning team.
Final Thoughts
White will look to prove to the Las Vegas Raiders he has plenty left in the tank. Even though his 2024 season did not go well, White will provide a veteran presence to a Raiders defense looking to improve.
